“It is what it is…” Do you have any hobbies? I enjoy restoring furniture, making crafty things and music. What’s your background? I have worked in retail for many years (approximately 15 years) and my most recent role was as a Sales Associate for a Land Developer. What made you take the leap and enter this industry? I decided I wanted to work with people again instead of being in an office. I really wanted to help people and make a difference. Why did you join Assist Community Services? I joined Assist Community Services as they are a local company that really care about people and their staff. I wanted to make people’s lives better. What do you like about working at Assist Community Services? I love the flexibility Assist Community Services provides, the support from great co-workers who have so much knowledge and experience in the industry which helps me better understand the disability industry. I really love the open communication the organisation provides. Do you have any advice to others considering coming into this industry? When you enter the industry have an open mind and an open heart as the people you meet are all different and some people will melt your heart. Describe your typical day at work? There is honestly no ‘typical’ day as each day is so different! I support individuals o live their best life every day whether that be chatting, swimming, shopping or cooking up a storm in the kitchen with them! What is the best advice you have ever received? The best advice I have ever received is to not take things personally. Tell us a surprising fun fact about you. I love camping and country music. I am also a qualified Diamond Grader.
